See in R.java file the ids are stored in some format

for example see below :

public static final int button_no=0x7f050020;

Instead of using R.id.button_no you can use 0x7f050020

that's how it works alternatively

What you're trying to achieve actually

what the app is doing at this point is call a series of apis and save the response to the db so that the user is able to access the data offline

How many apis you're calling simultaneously ?

that depends on the data but lets say around 10-20

better to do it one by one

use asynctask inside service

and register it in the activity

Services are best for long process

well the problem is that the app has been under development for about a year and we are asked for reusing the code thats already there

Quick Java question :D I'm working on a Java EE project and working on some front end design - giving shape to the templates through css. Now to view my changes I have to constantly go to the local glassfish server that is running, redeploy the snapshot and reload the site.. This is FAR from practical...
