@TimCastelijns this does sound scary in your case but since you're using BLE it should be okay? I'm guessing this step has been taken to ensure that battery usage isn't exceptionally high from apps which do a lot in the background

Well, background services are still possible, they just need to be explicit, iOS doesn't allow you to do it at all

unless you're streaming audio
