So I have to get wireshark to confirm this, but I'm pretty sure the Chinese hardware team set it up so that it is not only polling the grill every second but when the Grill is connected to the server on the local wifi, EVERY request goes through server, rather than checking for local Wifi connectivity first.

significant latency increase when switched from point to point mode.

fun project, but this guy never should have had the hardware team build the software code. They made such a mess out of it, it feels like that had never built an app before.

they weren't even using automatic reference counting in iOS, it's been available since 2011 and took me 15 mins to switch over.

Well I think that what he is doing is not really covered by the framework

what I mean is

he is setting up the Tabs in onCreate()

but then he is changing the navigation mode

what I mean is

he is creating the Tabs and hiding them to begin with

then he is changing the navigation mode when he loads the second set of Fragments

the way he's doing it he only needs the viewpager

no tabs

since he has his custom tabs

@AdamS It's always been good on iOS/Mac OS. The Android version only recently got improved to support DB writes and such.

Basically, it's a completely new app.

They also apparently decided it was a really bad idea to attempt to sell it on Android, so it's a free-unless-you-want-to-add-things model.
