I have gotten into android due to Google Glass and my Lg watch. Im used to being able to wright little programs to make my life easer on my PC. I have ideas for android to but don't have the android knowledge to be able to code them. Yet.

It's good for me. I get to work on stuff I'm sort of familiar with and I get to continue living in my hometown since they decided to start their business here rather than Silicon Valley (where it'd be near impossible)

I get paid to dig around in other peoples data yup.

Had a few other people who contacted me about Android stuff but they're always senior positions and nobody will hire me for those

I feel bad for you guys, when I got out of collage there where so few computer programmers that it was easy to get a job. Add on the fact that I'm a woman and I didn't have any problem. You guys have it hard

The other problem is that folks like me who grew up making stuff they wanted to make get it sort of rough because the reality is that whatever job you get, it's probably not going to be exactly what you'd want to do on your own.

A job rarely is what you want to do on your own time.

Meaning the mass quantities of jobs with DB experience required and web dev stuff and all that just do not fit.

I spent a year once working on a system for the garbage men in the area, coded in Visual Basic 6, for a woman who was a #¤%&% all she let me do for a year was code message boxes and fix bugs. I had 15 years experience at the time. Felt like a waste of a year but I got paid to do nothing.

web devs are under paid iMO. I did php web dev for 5 years before moving over to Desktop development

the thing is I think Google hires only the best of the best the specialist's in there field people with a desire to do their best. You have to pay big bucks to get people like that.

And most of the problem is that they have to pay a lot because the rent and cost of living has increased because people realized, hey, these people make a lot of money, we can increase the cost of the things they pay for (i.e., rent, goods, etc.)

But, I'm talking about from an HR's perspective.

I have 20 years experience never been senior. Not that I would really want to be then I would actually have to know what I was taking about instead of acting like I know what i'm talking about.

Oh. Job postings confuses me up to this day. Looking for Senior, 1-4 years. I don't think that range is Senior enough.

how do I store stuff in an SQLite database when the size might change? I.e 4 strings today might be 6 tomorrow. Trying to do it without harcoding it like arraylist.get(1).getString(); then arrayList.get(2).getString;

you can either save a json format, or use a blob

save your string in a column, add a new row for each string,

so if there are 4 strings, I need to insert it onto a new row 4 times, can that be done via a for loop or something?

vogella.com/tutorials/AndroidSQLite/article.html I followed that tutorial last week worked well.

Although your going to have to consider what your doing with your strings, should you be updateing them or deleteing them and adding new ones

i don't have much experiance with databases and multiple data of the same type yeah, most of the database stuff I've done is all, inserting stuff one at a time

instead of inserting an array or whatever
