trying to learn the Java 8 Stream API atm.
I want to implement a function that calculate the smallest year of a media ;
The media got function getYear() and is stored in a linkedlist ...

The outcomment part is the "old" version, which worked fine.. can u help me ?

you could use .sort(m -> m.getJahr())

and then grab the first entry

is there no way i can iterate and compare ?

sorry sort needs a comparator...

sort((m, n) -> Integer.compare(m.getJahr(), n.getJahr())

there might be a way to iterate and compare but that defeats the purpose of streams

as they walk away from the iterative processing. Your code would most likely break if you switched from stream() to paralallStream(), which is one of the key features of the stream-api

got it to work... sort() doesnt exit - is called sorted() and then i can leave datatype

You can use Comparator#comparingInt for an easier to write comparator: Comparator.comparingInt(Medium::getJahr)
