yeah, I was stranded in Macau 24h before my flight. Typhoon with a signal 8, the kind of typhoon that makes all transports (seas, air, roads) stop

GF & me could not make it back to HK

the typhoon signal dropped down to 3, which allows all transports to resume

at 6PM

in the UK that's known as Armageddon ... but what really happens is a few people loose a few roof tiles

we over-react at everything

like xmas time ... 3 snowflakes constitutes "deadly snowstorm, country ground a to a halt"

we walked the town without any issues

I recall some years ago the rail company actually used "wrong type of snow" as an official excuse for cancelling a bunch of trains
